Youth Week is a nationwide festival of events organised by young New
Zealanders to celebrate the talents, passion and success of local young people. This year, Youth Week will run from May 19th to 27th, and it's your chance to get involved and let your voice be heard.
Youth Week recognises the amazing contributions and achievements of young people in New Zealand. The week inspires us to value, support, and affirm the diversity of young people in our society. We want Aotearoa to be a country where young people are vibrant, optimistic, and supported and encouraged to take up challenges.
This year the theme for Youth Week is:
"Ahakoa te aha, kei a koe te tikanga: Be who you want to be."
It's a great chance for young people to take action and influence change in their communities, whether that's around identity, career opportunities, self-confidence, youth participation or expression through music, art or dance.
Through an upcoming U-Report poll, you'll soon get the chance to tell us if you feel like you are being heard by decision-makers and also let us know how to best connect you with ways you can share your voice. Ultimately, we want to support you to offer further opportunities to have your voices and opinions counted and amplified in your community!
Some of the places, people and opportunities you can connect to can be found on the Ara Taiohi website: http://bit.ly/youth-week-voice
